Who I am

I’m Steve - a product leader and software engineer based in Perth, Western Australia.

I’ve spent 30 years building software, and the last decade working at the intersection of technology and people strategy in the SME space. That time gave me a front-row seat to how organisations think about their people - and how rarely individuals get the same clarity about themselves.

I’m a builder at heart. Career Clarity started as a tool I wished existed.

The problem I kept seeing

Most career tools ask you what you want. They give you a personality label, a colour, an archetype - and leave you to figure out what to do with it.

After more than a decade working with organisations on how they attract, develop and retain their people, I kept seeing the same thing: smart, capable professionals stuck in roles that quietly drained them - unable to name exactly why, and unsure what to do next.

The problem wasn’t the people. It was that nobody had given them a clear map of what actually drives them.

Why I built this

I kept having the same conversation — with friends, with colleagues, with people in my network who were clearly capable but quietly stuck. They knew something was off. They just didn’t have language for it.

After a decade watching organisations invest heavily in understanding their people — and seeing how rarely that clarity flowed back to the individual — I decided to build the tool I kept wishing existed.

What it is today

Career Clarity is in early access and free to use while I continue to shape it based on real feedback.
